Downloads
This page contains links to download the current Stable version of Buddi. Buddi is available for a number of operating systems. Click on the name of your operating system below to download the correct version of Buddi:
- Macintosh OS X 10.7 through to Catalina - Choose this if you are running an Apple Macintosh computer running OSX 10.7 (Lion) or lateri, up to OSX Catalina. Buddi has been reported to have problems running on Big Sur, and this is not recommended at this time.
- Macintosh OS X 10.6 - Choose this if you are running an Apple Macintosh computer with operating system version 10.6 (Snow Leopard).
- Macintosh OS X 10.5 and earlier - Choose this if you are running an Apple Macintosh computer with operating system version 10.5 (Leopard) or earlier. Note that this is an obsolete version, and is not receiving any new updates. Please upgrade your operating system to use later versions of Buddi. Due to the age of these operating systems, only limited support can be provided.
- Windows Vista, XP, and previous - Choose this if you are running any version of Microsoft Windows. Buddi has been tested on Windows XP, 2003, Vista, and Windows 7 / 8, but it should work fine on older ones as well. Windows 7 has a stricter permissions framework than other versions of Windows; if you have problems installing on Windows 7 / 8, please view the installation guide.
- Standalone Windows - Choose this if you don't like automated installers. This is distributed as a .zip file containing Buddi, supporting icons, and documents. You can unzip this to C:\Program Files\Buddi, or put it on a thumb drive (use the --usb option when starting).
- Debian or Ubuntu Linux - Choose this if you are running Debian Linux, Ubuntu Linux, or some distribution based off of Debian, which uses .deb packages for installation.
- Slackware Linux - Choose this if you are running Slackware Linux, or some distribution based off of Slackware, which uses .tgz packages for installation.
- Generic Unix and Linux - Choose this if you are running some other version of Unix or Linux. This package includes a launch script which you can run from the command line.
- All Platforms - Most people will not want to use this package. It contains only a Java Jar file, and does not contain anything to integrate the program with your operating system. This package is mostly useful for testing purposes.
- Buddi Source Code - This is for computer programmers, who are interested in seeing how Buddi works. It contains the source code of the most recently released Buddi version.
- Buddi Plugins - There are a number of plugins available for Buddi. Plugins allow added functionality by extending what Buddi can do. Some plugins include new graphs and reports; others allow importing data files from different accounting programs, etc.
Please note that Buddi requires Java 1.6 or higher. If you are running Java 1.5, and cannot upgrade for some reason, please use Buddi version 3.4.1.6 or earlier.
There are also some alternate program icons for users who do not use the dollar sign. If your currency is not here, feel free to make a 512x512 png with it and send it to me! (The base .xcf file is in the git repository, you can email me if you cannot find it).
